Emergency First Response
Would you know what to do if someone you're with collapses and needs emergency care? What if you're the only person there? What if that person is a friend? A family member? Or even one of your children? We all hope never to have to face a situation where what we do means the difference between life and death. But if it does can you be sure you would know how to do the right thing? If it ever came to the crunch you'd want to be 100% sure you'd know exactly what to do. You'd want your lifesaving skills and training to kick in immediately - without doubt, and without hesitation. Which is why we should all be up to date on Emergency First Response training. The Emergency First Response course is an easy to remember sequence of Primary Care and Secondary Care designed so you can provide effective emergency care for a wide range of injured or ill persons. Based on precisely the priorities and approach of professional emergency care providers including ILCOR (International Committee on Resuscitation) recommendations, the course consists of both theory and practical modules. At Scuba Shack we also include the full range of recommended additional techniques such as Emergency Oxygen use and the Automatic External Defibrillator. All this in just one day – one day in which to learn to save a lifetime.
CARE FOR CHILDREN Are you a parent? A baby sitter? Teacher? Care Worker? Anyone, in fact, who works or lives with children? Then the EFR Care for Children course is a MUST. It teaches the lay rescuer to provide emergency care to a sick or injured Child. The course focuses on primary and secondary care for children (one year to puberty) and Infants (less than one year old). You do not have to have previous CPR or first aid training as this is a stand alone course, and follows the same priorities and ILCOR consensus. Where? Our courses run from our Kommetjie dive shop.
